How to Pass Elance Windows XP Test - 2012

As I had earlier advised, it is better to sit for the same exam both in oDesk and Elance on the same day when your mind is fresh.  In reference to Part 1 of odesk Windows Xp Test  and Part 2 of odesk Windows XP test, the questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9,11, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22,23, 24, 25, 28, 30, 32, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40 of odesk Windows XP test are all similar to Elance Windows XP Test except for the following:

Fast user switching feature
  • This is a new Windows XP feature that provides a fast and convenient way for switching between user accounts. It allows another user to log in and use the system without having to log out the previous user and even without having to quit any running application.
  • When fast user switching is enabled, one cannot use offline files
Valid Windows File Names
File names can contain any uppercase/lowercase characters except the following: ? " / \ < > * | :


The Desktop Cleanup Wizard 
This a a wizard  that removes any desktop shortcuts that have never been used to a new folder on your desktop called Unused Desktop Shortcuts


Windows Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker is included in Windows XP. It is a video creating/editing software  that can be used to create, edit, and share videos.


Remote Desktop Connection (RDC)
RDC allows you to sit at a computer and connect to a remote computer in a different location. You can connect to your computer from your home computer and access all your programs, files and network resources as though you were sitting in front of your computer at work. You can view files and documents on your computer's desktop at work from homes computer.

System Restore
System restore restores your computer to a previous state. It automatically tracks changes to your computer at all times and at specific intervals by creating restore points before changes occur. In case your computer becomes unstable after a certain application is installed, you can restore back to previous date by choosing the restore point on a date prior to when you made the change.

Sleep/Stand by mode
Stand by mode saves your work to memory and puts the computer into a low-power state. since power to hard drive and monitor is cut and any open documents and applications are put in memory, it has proven to be a useful power-saving mode. You can quickly resume normal, full-power operation within a few seconds.


Accelerator (hot) keys
Most programs have accelerator keys that make it easier to work with menus. If a letter is underlined in a menu, it means that pressing the ALT key in combination with the underlined key will have the same effect as clicking that menu item

Ipconfig  
IPCONFIG stands for Internet Protocol configuration. This command display your computer IP configuration details like IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and to refresh the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS) settings

Windows Automatic Updates
Windows automatic updates routinely checks for updates that protect the computer from latest viruses and other security threats. To take advantage of this feature, you have to turn on automatic update and must be connected to the internet. Turning on automatic update, will allow updating to be done automatically without user intervention.
