How to Pass Elance Excel 2007 Test

Doing Elance test differentiates you from others by showing off your actual skills and expertise to prospective clients. Skill tests in Elance are free to take and you can choose which skill test results to display publicly on your profile. If you have free membership, you can only display up to 5 skills. To display more than that you need to register and then you can display up to the maximum allowed by you membership plan.

Most of the questions asked in Elance are usually the same as oDesk. My advice to you is that as you prepare for oDesk test, also plan to prepare to for the same test in Elance. It is better to do the oDesk and Elance test on the same day since most questions are the same and your mind will be fresh. If you are one of those people who are usually exam phobia, then you can space yourself but ensure that you do not prolong the spacing because these exams change by the day.

Fortunately, at Elance you retake the same test after a week  whereas at Odesk you has to wait for a full thirty day, which I honestly think is long. In order to avoid such time wasting, it think it is better to thoroughly prepare for the exam so that you don't have to retake the exam. That is where the sample questions like these one here come in handy. The sample questions give you an idea of what you should expect in the exam. Just don't panic, be relaxed and pace yourself evenly. By that I mean you should not spend more than 2 minutes on one question because you are expected to cover 40 questions within a period of 60 minutes.

If you are fast enough, you can also make snapshots of the questions so that in case there is a need to  retake the test,  then the snapshots you took earlier will be able to help you to do the revision and will also make you more confident when you resit. To make the snapshot you can you windows paintbrush program.

To avoid repeating myself, I will only list down the questions that are different from those in oDesk test as featured in Excel 2007 Odesk Test Part-1 and Excel 2007OdeskTest Part-2 ; otherwise the rest are just the same. Wishing you all the best as you prepare.

Passing Odesk Excel 2007 Test is very important for any Odesk worker because this is a basic need which you cannot afford to ignore. Even if you are a technical worker, you still need this basic test. Remember that Excel is a very powerful tool which can be used for data analysis and reports generation. So if you do a lot of research and hand large amount of data, polish your excel traits and you will see how versatile it is. 

I have tried to cover some few topic for those questions that need a bit of explanation to understand, but the simple ones, I have left them out. Before you sit for the test try to revise along these lines:-

Mapping a Network Drive in Excel

If you usually access a shared network folder, you can map the drive in order to create a connection to that shared folder  and to assign that shared older a rive letter. Mapping a drive helps you to quickly access the folder whenever you want to. If you are a programmer for instance using Visual Fox-pro, in order for you to use command windows and be able to access a shared folder, you must do the mapping and assign a drive letter.

Document properties are details about a file that describe or identify it. These includes things like title, author name, subject and keywords that identify the document's topic or contents. If you specify the relevant values for the document properties fields for you documents, you can easily organize and identify you document later. You can search for documents based on properties. In Excel 2007 you can view or edit document properties easily while you work on your document content by using the document information pane, which display at the top of your document. There are five types of document properties, which includes:-

Standard Properties - This the default, wish a set of standard properties such as author, title, and subject. You can specify you own text  values for these properties to make it easier to organize and identify your documents.

Automatically updated properties - These properties include both file system properties (for example, file size or dates when a file was created or last modified) and statistics that are maintained for you by Office programs (for example, the number of words or character in a document). Automatically update properties cannot be changed. It can be used to identify or find documents. For  example you can search for all files created on a specific date.

Custom Properties - These are properties that you can define. you can assign a text, time, or numeric value to custom properties

Document Library Properties - These properties are associated with documents in a document library on a website or in a public folder. When you create a new document library you can define document library properties and set rules on their values and when people add documents to the document library, they are prompted to specify the values for each of these properties.

Today I have compiled Excel  2007 oDesk test questions and answers. These are first twenty questions. Please watch out for the rest twenty questions tomorrow (i.e. Part 2). Let your comments keep flowing.

The syllabus of Odesk Excel 2007 Test comprises of:Charts, working with graphics, file format and handling, worksheet, excel tables and functions, formula, working with filters and keyboard shortcuts, working with data, PivotTable an PivotChart reports and lastly working with security macro.

This test comprises of forty questions which must completed in forty  minutes. As you do the test, make snapshots of each question using paintbrush program,  for the answers you give so that you can later on be able to know where you went wrong. This test is not like Odesk Readiness Test, whereby you are given a list of questions that you answered wrongly. You have to figure this out  by doing more research online and practically trying things out in Excel 2007.

If you are looking for administrative job or a writing job in Odesk, this is a very very important test to sit for. If you are registered both in Odesk and Elance, be informed that the questions on these tests are usually the same. Therefore,  instead of doing one test, plan to sit for the same test, both in Elance and Odesk when your mind is still fresh.
